Onion Mode

A separate window on its own in-memory session, with every request routed through a Tor circuit the browser starts for you. It reaches .onion services and keeps your IP off the sites you visit. Bootstrap progress is shown while the circuit builds, because that takes 5 to 30 seconds and a browser that just sits there looks broken. The agent can search and read onion sources too, and cite where each claim came from.

It is not Tor Browser, and it says so on its own start page. Tor Browser's real protection is making every user look identical. This is still Mind Browser, with your window size and your extensions — anonymous by IP, still distinctive by fingerprint. Good for keeping your network out of it and for reaching onion services. If being identified would put you in danger, use Tor Browser.

One slider, every dial

Off, Standard or Strict — and each protection underneath it reachable on its own. Strict adds canvas, audio and WebGL masking, HTTPS-only, referrer trimming and WebRTC leak blocking. Each site gets one stable fake identity per session, because a value that changes on every read is itself a fingerprint.

Permissions that ask

Camera, microphone, location and notifications prompt per site instead of being answered on your behalf. Click the padlock for the whole picture: who issued the certificate, when it expires, what the site has stored, and what it has been allowed to do — with per-origin clearing that won't sign you out of everything else.

No telemetry

No analytics SDK, no crash pings, no account. History, notes and chats live in a folder on your own machine that you can open, back up, or delete.

Blocking by default

Ad, tracker and fingerprinting domains are dropped at the network layer before a single request leaves — every tab, every webview, every extension.

Bring your own VPN

Route all traffic through a SOCKS5 or HTTP proxy you control — your VPN endpoint, an SSH tunnel, Tor. Deliberately not a bundled service: we'd rather never touch your traffic than promise not to look.

Local-only mode

With Ollama selected, prompts and page text never leave the machine. The agent loop runs the same either way.

macOS will warn you once. Click Done — never Move to Bin.

Apple has not notarised this build, so the first launch is blocked. Move to Bin deletes the app. Click Done, then open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to the bottom and click Open Anyway. You only do this once.

To skip the warning entirely, use the Terminal command below — macOS only flags apps downloaded by a browser.

The Windows build is a portable folder — unzip it anywhere and run Mind Browser.exe. It's newer than the Mac build and has had less real-world use, so treat it as a first release.

1macOS Open the .dmg and drag Mind Browser into your Applications folder — it then lives in Launchpad and can be kept in the Dock. Windows Unzip the folder and run Mind Browser.exe.
2Neither build is signed by Apple or Microsoft, so the first launch is blocked. macOS 15 and newer Open it once, click Done, then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to the bottom and click Open Anyway. Control-click → Open no longer works on these versions. If macOS instead says the app is damaged, that is the download flag rather than a bad file — clear it with xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Mind Browser.app". Windows SmartScreen → More info → Run anyway.

Rather not see the warning?

macOS only flags apps downloaded by a browser. Paste this into Terminal and Mind Browser installs to Applications and opens straight away — no warning, nothing to approve.
